The Ecology Within

“The Ecology Within” is a research project, funded by a large NERC grant, which aims to investigate the role of gut ecosystems in the ecology and evolution of wild animals. This study, which started in March 2019 and will run for five years, will harness the uniquely detailed information collected as part of the St Kilda Soay sheep project to understand the factors driving variation in gut ecosystems and their consequences for host health and fitness under natural conditions.
